Top10 Startup Of The Year

We are proud to share that The Surgical Assistant has been named as one of the Top 10 startups in the Startup of the Year 2026 competition.

This recognition is an exciting milestone for our team, our growing network of medical professionals, and the surgeons we serve. Innovation City’s Startup of the Year process assessed 40 startups, with only ten selected to move through to the final stage. The assessment focused on key areas such as traction, clarity and execution, with traction carrying significant weight in the selection process.

For us, this recognition is about more than being named in a list. It is a strong signal that the problem we are solving matters.

The Surgical Assistant was built to address a real and recurring challenge within the healthcare system: connecting surgical demand with available, competent medical professionals. By making it easier for surgeons to find reliable assistance and for medical officers and general practitioners to gain valuable surgical exposure, we are working to simplify one of the many operational pressures in the surgical environment.

Innovation City described The Surgical Assistant as a platform that “connects available medical professionals with surgical demand”, highlighting the structural inefficiency we are working to solve and the broader relevance of our model.

From the beginning, our mission has been clear: to create a dependable, efficient and empowering ecosystem for surgical assistance. We believe that better connections between surgeons and assistants can improve theatre efficiency, support professional growth, and ultimately contribute to a stronger healthcare environment.

Being selected as part of the Top 10 is both an honour and a motivation. It affirms the work already done, but also reminds us of the responsibility ahead. As The Surgical Assistant moves into the final stage of the competition, we remain focused on building a platform that is practical, trusted and valuable to the medical professionals who use it.
